Milltown Helping Hands
About The MillTown Helping Hands Charity Nominees:
Coalition for a Better Acre Food Pantry
CBA walk in center at 450 Merrimack Street in Lowell has a food pantry that provides weekly food items for families who are dealing with food insecurities during this post pandemic economy. Participation has increased by 88% since its start in 2021 and now serves over 200 households each month. Our primary source of food items is the MVFB, who does a wonderful job with supplying over 100 organizations throughout the Merrimack Valley. Unfortunately this means that on some occasions, we go without basic staples such as eggs, milk, or cereal. CBA often goes “grocery” shopping for those basics to provide to our participants.
The Catholic Charities Lowell Food Pantry provides much needed nutritious food to people in Lowell and surrounding towns. They provide approximately 60 households a day with nutritious food once a week.Catholic Charities supports communities throughout Eastern Massachusetts by providing services to the most vulnerable populations. Our programs include Family & Youth Services, Basic Needs, Refugee & Immigrant Services, and Adult Education & Workforce Development. We are one of the largest social service non-profit organizations in Massachusetts–and serve our neighbors, regardless of religion, race, gender, age, disability, or ethnicity.
Ballardvale Community Pantry and Fridge
A 24-hour self-serve pantry and fridge! Everyone in the wider community is invited to leave what they can and take what they need. Since its launch in September 2022, the community pantry & fridge has received numerous daily visits from donors and recipients alike, giving away an average of 1,000 pounds of food every week. This is a community resource that is convenient, safe, anonymous, and reflects the best of giving from neighbor to neighbor.
